The tide graph

To access to the tide graph, double click with the finger tool tes00194.gif on a tide icon.

Present tide

Check that the helm is in Automatic mode (if necessary, click on the helm icon to change the mode).

The curve of the present tide, as well as the moon icon, is displayed on the right graphic area updated according to the computer time.

The different corresponding values, as well as the time and height of the nearest low and high seas is displayed in the left-hand zone of the window.

Note: the information displayed corresponds to the port named in the window title.

Changing the prediction date and time

Click on the helm icon to deactivate automatic mode and pass to manual mode.

Then click the value that you wish to modify (date, time, or water height) and, using the arrows tes00198.gif, modify this value: other information is updated after a couple of seconds pause.

Note: you can also drag the cursor of the time or the cursor of the height in the right graphic area of the window.

Caution! Refer to the next paragraph, Parametering the tide module, to find out how to set the time display to UT or local time.

Nautical almanac

Under the Usually tide mode, keep hold down the mouse button in the time bar located in the bottom zone of the graphic area to display the sun rise and sunset times.

Keep hold down the mouse button in the moon icon located in the right graphic area to display the dates of the phases of the moon.

Grounding

The Tide module allows you to display grounding times, in accordance with the tide.

Caution! These calculations naturally depend on your vesselās water draught and on the required underkeel clearance (refer to the paragraph below, Parametering the tide module, to ascertain this information).

Select Grounding display from the Mode menu.

Automatic mode

With the helm set to Automatic (if necessary click on the helm icon to change the mode), click the value of the sounder data (in the upper part of the right graphic area) and, using the arrows tes00203.gif, modify this value (the sounder value can be read from the echo-sounder).

You can also use the right-hand ruler to enter the sounder value.

MaxSea displays the times when the vessel is afloat in blue, the intermediary time corresponding to the underkeel clearance in pink and the times when the vessel is grounded in red.

Caution! The information given for grounding pertains to the shipās current position.

Manual mode

With the helm set to Manual (if necessary click on the helm icon to change the mode), click the chart height (in the upper part of the right graphic area) and, using the arrows tes00204.gif, modify this chart height value in the desired spot (depth recorded at zero on the chart and shown as such on maritime charts).

You can also use the right-hand ruler to enter the chart height value.

MaxSea displays the times when the vessel is afloat in blue, the intermediary times corresponding to the underkeel clearance in pink and the times when the vessel is stranded in red.

Select the tide station

From the Tide graph window, you can select a new tide station from the list opened with the ćselect stationä button.

Parametering the tide module

Setting the time

Select Local or UT... from the Properties menu.

The time of your computer should be in local time and the time zone (the difference between the UT and the local time) is read from the Operating System.

To verify the Operating System time zone, on a Mac OS open Control Panel Date and Time, or Control Panel Date/Time on a PC .

Grounding values

Select Grounding data from the Properties menu.

Modify the values (either graphically by clicking and dragging the corresponding indicators, or numerically by clicking on the value to select it and then using the arrows to reset it) for your vesselās draught and for the underkeel clearance that you want to use in calculations.
